with scripts i mean perl/ruby etc, not sh or bat or some os specific
language; calling kpsewhich from perl/ruby etc or launching a program is
kind of messy as well since then escaping needs to be os specific; the less
i have to do that ...
it's also the reason why i'd like to see ruby/perl/etc kpse libraries,
which is not that hard to accomplish using "swig" (i did that once for xpdf)
