It means that there are two entries with the same TFM name (the first
column) in the map file.

It's a matter of fact that printing to screen takes more time than
writing to a file.  The reason is that if you copy a character to a
file, you copy only one byte.  But if you print it to screen, you have
to take care of its graphical representation.  

IMO it's not a good idea to ask people to bother the author of
TeXShop.  It makes a lot of sense to use the facilities provided by
the operating system.  TeXShop has to be maintainable somehow.

If writing to screen slows down everything significally, the best
solution is to redirect standard output to /dev/null.  Nothing gets
lost because everything is written to the log file anyway.
